Constant and trouble-free dosing of a suspension into a pusher centrifuge
The solids concentration from the crystallisation process is often insufficient to feed a suspension directly into the pusher centrifuge. The suspension has to be pre-thickened.
Due to its flexibility and "storage" capacity, a static thickener is frequently used for this purpose. Basically, a static thickener consists of a conically shaped vessel in which the suspension is thickened by sedimentation in the conical section of the vessel and discharged downwards whilst the clarified liquid is discharged in the overflow section of the vessel.
Thereafter, the thickened suspension can be fed to the centrifuge. The Ferrum DAU Dosing Devices and RW Agitators were specially developed for installation onto the discharge flange of a static thickener. Depending on the model and throughput one Dosing Device can feed up to four centrifuges simultaneously. The integrated dosing valve can be actuated manually, electrically or pneumatically. The shape of the valve opening has been optimised to allow an even more constant and trouble-free suspension feed to the centrifuge. An integrated Agitator prevents solids deposits in the suspension outlets of the Dosing Device. The Agitator and dosing valve(s) are cleaned using rinsing liquid via integrated flush connections.
The DAU 400-4 has 4 suspension outlets each for 5 to max. 30 m3/h suspension (product-specific). The connection to the static thickener has nominal diameter DN 400. Depending on the product, the product-contacted parts can be manufactured using a corresponding chemically resistant material.

The Ferrum RW Agitator has a similar design to the Dosing Device, however without integrated dosing valves. The suspension outlets can be fitted with suitable standard dosing valves and controlled by the customer's or Ferrum's control system.
